LMR — important topics
Last-minute revision priorities from the SLM outline:
- 1.1.1 Definition and Objectives of Research — ‘systematised effort / new knowledge’ → Redman & Mory.
- 1.1.2 Characteristics of Research — Characteristics answer ‘what makes inquiry scientific research?’ — process + quality + use.
- 1.1.3 Difference b/w Research Methods and Resear — Methods = ‘what techniques’; methodology = ‘why this design and these techniques’.
- 2.1.1 Introduction to Data Collection — define collection + primary/secondary contrast in one breath.
- 2.1.2 Data Collection Methods — list major methods and one strength/weakness each.
- 2.1.3 Tabulating and Validating Data — tabulating = organise; validating = verify quality/legitimacy.
- 3.1.1 Design of Experiment: Objectives and Strat — objectives + three principles (replication, randomisation, blocking) often co-tested.
- 3.1.2 Pre-Experimental Research Design — name the three classic Campbell–Stanley-style pre-experimental forms.
- 3.1.3 Quasi Experimental Research Design — ‘no random assignment but has comparison/structure’ → quasi.
- 4.1.1 Introduction to Hypothesis — define hypothesis + ‘testable/falsifiable’ + link to data.
- 4.1.2 Developing Hypothesis : Null and Alternate — write H0: μ = μ0 vs H1: μ ≠ μ0 (or > / <) as templates.
- 4.1.3 Type I and Type II Error — Error types are about decisions, not sampling error (2.3.6).
- 5.1.1 Meaning of Research Report — define report + purposes (inform, scrutinise, archive).
- 5.1.2 Structure of Scientific Report — recite standard scientific report skeleton in order.
- 5.1.3 Components of Scientific Report — list core components in order with one-line roles.
